Internship Program


MOCMI’S internship program is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in the marine sciences.

  • Internships are for one semester and require a minimum weekly commitment of 20 hours
  • During their internship, each student will be assigned a mentor while they undertake a personal project. Projects will be
  • Interns participate in community engagement initiatives, daily operations, and field work
  • Internships are unpaid positions and housing is not provided

Application Deadlines:

Fall Internship (starts in September, specific date flexible) – application deadline: 08/30/2020

Spring Internship (Starts in January, specific date flexible) – application deadline: 11/30/2020

Summer Internship (Starts in June, specific date flexible) – application deadline: 04/30/2021

  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older
  • Applicant should be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university, be enrolled in a graduate program, or be a recent graduate from a college or university
  • Students must be self-motivated and willing to learn
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled in the Sustainable Science Management degree program or the Marine Options Program at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College
