MOC Marine Institute Summer Internship **Due to high interest, our Summer 2024 Internship Program application is open by invitation only**
Join our team of dedicated biologists on the island of Maui for a hands-on experience working with Hawaiʻi’s marine life. Gain and practice knowledge in the following topics:
Sea turtle husbandry and treatment
Sea turtle research on Maui
Coral husbandry and restoration efforts
Threat prevention initiatives
Marine education
The “Next steps” regarding your own path in the field of marine sciences
Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled in a high school or university
Must be able to dedicate 6 hours per day and 5 days per week
Must have reliable transportation and housing
Must complete a project assigned by staff mentor (*this may be coupled with school assignments, if guidelines are similar)
Qualifications:
Applicant must be 17 years of age, or a high school senior in the fall 2024
Applicant should be entering their senior year of high school, enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university, be enrolled in a graduate program, or be a recent graduate from a college or university
Must be a student during the term immediately preceding the internship. (Not to exceed one year education gap)
Preference will be given to students from Maui County
