Koʻa is the Hawaiian word for coral and Kiaʻi is the word for caretaker or guardian. By symbolically adopting a coral, you, too, can become a caretaker of coral, or koʻa kiaʻi! As a Koʻa Kiaʻi, your adopted coral will be collected from the near shore waters of Maui. MOC Marine Institute collects “corals of opportunity” from the ocean to ensure we are imposing no negative ecological impacts on the coral reef ecosystem. Your adopted coral will be nursed back to health in our land based nursery, and used to create healthy, vibrant coral colonies that can be planted back onto the reef.
With our work, we ensure the survival of coral reefs, sea turtles and marine life in general. We have found that certain garments support us in our daily work more than others and help us feel more connected to the purpose of our work. This is the reason why we entered into a Positive Impact Partnership with Waterlust.
